ROSE BEACH
Rose Beach's debut CD "Family Love" boasts mature songs that blend a folk singer's lyrical depth, a pop singer's catchy melodies, and a hip hop diva's sultry yet raw vocal power into a unique sound. Starting in the underground - the streets of Vancouver and Tokyo - she is rising into the musical mainstream. She has sold more than 50,000 records in Japan, where she has performs weekly at many of Tokyo's famous clubs, including the world renown Club Asia, as well as events for companies ranging from Lush and Diesel to Asahi and Mac. Rose started her career In Vancouver where she fronted a trip hop band called The Loxley Project. At the same time, she began to build a love affair with Japan, developing on her solo work in the energy of the Tokyo music scene.

AMY SPEACE
On her new album Songs for Bright Street, New York-based singer/songwriter Amy Speace demonstrates why she's quickly become one of her adopted hometown's most celebrated emerging artists. Possessing a commanding voice, a distinctive melodic sensibility and an uncanny knack for nailing complex emotions in song, Speace makes music that's both illuminating and effortlessly accessible. From the rustic rush of "Step Out of the Shade" to the bittersweet lilt of "Water Landing" to the gentle acoustic intimacy of "Two," Songs for Bright Street's 12 original compositions (plus a slyly countrified reading of the Blondie classic "Dreaming") showcase Speace's unique gifts, offering catchy Americana with indelible hooks, sharply observed lyrics and a gritty urban edge. Among those impressed by her sassy songcraft is legendary folk-pop songstress Judy Collins, who chose Songs for Bright Street to release on her new Wildflower label.

GREENLAW
Gracing stages from St Petersburgh, Russia to Toronto, Canada Greenlaw is paving the way for their much anticipated debut album with Formation Records due for International release Oct 2007. Greenlaw's earthy soul sound is a new direction for the UK based DnB label but is one that is definitely turning heads. Front woman Skyla J comes with powerful thought provoking lyrics presented with an angelic molasses like voice that is sweet enough to be compared to an early Jill Scott meets Indie Irie by UK's F magazine. Winners of the "most memorable show of 2004"( Monday Mag Victoria B.C) the band released their full length studio album in 2005 entitled Time and Energy that was quickly hailed by CBC Radio 1 as one of the "top albums of 2005". Recently the band has been nominated for an Indy Award in London England. Greenlaw has also been featured at top festivals, showcases and venues throughout North America, Europe and the UK.

BLUEVENUS
Founded in 1998 by singer/songwriter and violinist Andrea de Boer, blueVenus developed into a unique musical experience with influences ranging from Indie Pop/Rock to Jazz, Latin and Electronica. After releasing their debut EP, which was co-produced by L. Stu Young (Prince) and Iain McNally (Amanda Marshall) , they toured Germany and Turkey, with a core following already established in Toronto and Boston. Receiving regular ariplay in Canada on CBC and internet radio stations, blueVenus is also highly regarded as a noteworthy live act, achieving two nominations at the 2006 Toronto Independent Musicians Awards (TIMA) for "Best Jazz" and "Best Live Acoustic Act". MusicDish Asks 'Are You Ready To Innovate?' At NewMusicWest 2007

MusicDish founder Eric de Fontenay has been invited to present his seminar "Are You Ready To Innovate In The Digital Marketplace?" at NewMusicWest 2007, being held in Vancouver, Canada on May 2-6. The seminar was originally developed for and presented at MIDEM 2007, held recently in Cannes, France.

"The music industry is moving faster than it ever has before," Eric was quoted in MIDEM 'The News' magazine. "You now need to innovate on a continuous basis, and not all music industry professionals are wired to do that. Music has been at the forefront of having to respond to the challenges posed by technological change. It's like a game of chess: you always need to be two steps ahead."

About The Workshop
There is broad consensus that progressive digitization of the music industry, from the studio to the retail product and finally the marketplace itself, is transforming the way music is produced, packaged and distributed. At the same time, digitization is changing traditional media markets. With the explosion in new distribution platforms, from satellite radio to MySpace, consumers are enjoying greater flexibility, choice and control over music products, a process that started with the 8-Track and has culminated in peer-to-peer file sharing and the iPod.

But there is much less consensus with regard to how the industry must react and transform in response to these market changes, in part because technological changes are challenging the industry's fundamental approach to marketing and selling music. For example, the shift from broadcast platforms (radio/TV) to digital platforms, such as social network sites, has fundamentally changed the flow of communication between music providers and music consumers. What once was a one-to-many, unidirectional monologue controlled by music providers has transformed into a to many-to-many, multidirectional conversation between music providers and music consumers as well as between music consumers, and no one appears to have much control.

The workshop will go beyond a synthesis of the market changes created by digitization to a discussion about how labels, artists and others in the music industry must now approach marketing and selling music during a dramatic market transition. Concrete and practical strategies on how to tackle some of the important choices facing today's music industry decision maker will be presented. As such, the workshop is meant to provide a framework for decision makers considering how to internally innovate to succeed.
